About the Project
Welcome to the official digital home of the project "Creation of a Comprehensive Repository for Linguistic, Cultural, and Traditional Knowledge Heritage of the Paniya Tribes of Tamil Nadu and Kerala." Led by Dr. K. Umaraj and funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), this two-year initiative is dedicated to the systematic preservation of one of South India's most distinct indigenous cultures. Our mission is to build a robust digital archive that captures the unique linguistic nuances, oral traditions, and ancestral customs of the Paniya communities across state borders. By documenting these vanishing knowledge systems, this project serves as both a vital scholarly resource and a permanent cultural anchor, ensuring that the rich heritage of the Paniya people is protected and accessible for generations to come.
